In Doringkloof mall there has been 3-4 restaurants in the same spot. Since Gameal's Cedar Cafe, which was an absolute winner, every other restaurant after it just seemed to last a very short time.
Once again a new one opened called Cafe de Cafe.
Since I had a visitor this morning, decided to check out this new place for breakfast.
I really do love the decor, clean lines, elegant. The menu is quite diverse but with a French feel, croissants instead of toast for breakfast, baguettes, pastas and a good dessert section.
The breakfasts are quite large and tasted very good. The coffee wasn't very strong but it tasted great - especially as my visitor was delayed nearly for an hour, I really craved coffee :)
I had the revolution baguette which was spicy prawns and avo, this tasted good, but it wasn't spicy at all. I also, just to be a bit adventurous, tried the
phyllo pastry duo, ham, cheese and chives + cheese and chutney.
Dished up lovely but quite a bit oily. As I do LOVE melted cheese I ate
the bottom parts but could not manage all the fried pastry.
As
not one restaurant lasted much longer than a few months or a year in
this spot, we will see how this one fares. I do have hope for it, they
are trying, though the staff seem a bit overwhelmed when more than one
table of patrons appear. If they can get it right to enjoy it a bit
more, smile and have fun I can see this place doing well.
I also saw a board advertising a Banting menu, which I know many people are in to lately.
So try it out, lets see how they grow.....

The Coffee Choc Expo
This year was definitely better than last year, bigger, more stalls and much more food!!! If I had known that I would not have booked a restaurant for later in Monte.
This year my sole purpose was to decide on which coffee machine I wanted, this is exceptionally difficult as there are so many brands now, so many options that it is really difficult to decide, so I left with a bag full of brochures!!! There is still the old manual ones but a lot more digital ones where you can decide strength, milk, flavour and even how hot you'd like your perfect cuppa to be!
Needless to say you do not know where to start! From tasting coffee, to the best off all -tasting all the delicious chocolates and fudge! I bought some brandy, biltong, cape ruby and some more chocs from Snyman Chocolatiers, R7 a choc!! For hubby a bag of ginger fudge at R30.
This year there were a section outside with live music, seating under a tent (though last night was a bit chilly), the Paella pans (see pics) smelled SO good. There was wine tasting, banting food, sweet food like Belgian waffles and so much more....
For a taste, sight and smell delight VISIT THIS SHOW!!!!

Coffee Choc Expo Montecasino
DATE... This coming Fri I'll be visiting the Coffee Choc expo, went last year and it is a must for all coffee addicts, just walking around in that glorious smell of roasted coffee and to taste endless new flavours is so exhilarating! I will be taking some pics and posting my comments after. It starts this Thurs to Sun 16-19 July and tickets are available on computicket.
New nail polish
now Im sure you all LOVE a good bargain
I found 2 this last weekend. Sorbet has a special on all Essie - paid R104 for a funky greenish blue shade named trophy wife(love that!)
Then I found an even better special - Dischem at Brooklyn has a lot of beauty products on special, from lipsticks to base to yes Essie nail polish, limited colours - only R55!!!!! YEAH, got this gr8 pink(called exotic libras) for Summer (yes can't wait!) and my fave colour BLUE (coat azure)
Im a real bargain hunter and generally am not too keen on paying too much for nail polish as it doesnt last long, but I find this goes on smooth, its not a thick type of polish and the brush is quite easy to use.
